Nick Bosa‘s endorsement of Donald Trump is suggested to be the cause of the San Francisco 49ers‘ slump in form as the defensive end’s team slip to the bottom of the NFC West with a 6-8 record, less than a year after reaching the Super Bowl.
Injuries to Christian McCaffrey hasn’t helped, as well as issues for Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk throughout the season but some fans think that Bosa’s decision to wear a Make America Great Again hat is the source of the troubles.
One user wrote via X.com, formerly Twitter, “Feel like Bosa tried harder before Trump Got elected.”
A second added, “Nick bosa invisible again!!! I’m curious have you done any statistical analysis on player performance after the Trump dance?

“Incredibly every single player who did it for the 49ers have been shells of their former selves. Complete jokes. I laugh at their pathetic performance.”
And a third commented, “Ever since Bosa flashed the Trump hat 49ers have been 2-4 and played themselves out of playoff contention #coincidence.”
49ers’ playoff hopes evaporate
The 27-year-old donned the cap in Week 8 when they took on the Dallas Cowboys and he earned a fine of $11,225 by the NFL for the display of a personal message and non-sponsored brand.
Since then, they have suffered defeats to the Seattle Seahawks, Green Bay Packers, Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Rams and have only managed to beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Chicago Bears.
It has seen the side relinquish the lead of the NFC West and they have plummeted all the way to the bottom and now trail the division-leading Seahawks by two wins with just three games left to play in 2024/25.
According to the NFL, the San Francisco 49ers now hold a less than one percent chance of making it to the postseason to retain their status as the NFC Conference champions. That’s compared to an 11 percent chance for the Arizona Cardinals, who are third in the same division.
