Angel Reese’s famous podcast “Unapologetically Angel” had some very interesting revelations during it’s latest episode that featured two of the three Ball Brothers: Lonzo (the oldest at 27 years old) and LiAngelo (26 years old). The youngest of the brothers, LaMelo (23 years old) did not appeared on the show.
During a segment of the podcast, Reese asked the brothers what was the craziest thing that made them fight each other. LiAngelo wasted no time in answering that the reason he got into it with his youngest brother was a basketball one-on-one game.
“Bro punched me in my s***. Straight foul like that and I said ‘oh, Damn! I ain’t know what to do, for real.” said LiAngelo. His words shocked Angel Reese, who couldn’t believed that LaMelo hit his brother during a game.
Lonzo Ball added some context and mentioned the fact that most of the problem between the Ball Brothers started from the basketball court.
“Siblings, I feel like growin up they take your shoes, I don’t know if y’all had that going.” replied Reese. Lonzo answered that Lavar Ball would discipline his kids with a beating. “Our whole life he’s like: ‘Your brothers are your help, so why are you beating up your help? That don’t make no damn sense, so might as well beat both of y’all up.” “All three.” added LiAngelo.
LiAngelo Ball talks about his future in basketball
The Ball Brothers discussed LiAngelo’s playing career and Lonzo got real with his younger brother. As LiAngelo talked about attempting to find another G League team and how that would give him a path to the NBA, Lonzo leveled with him about his pro prospects.
The elder Ball brother said LiAngelo should go play overseas because he doesn’t have the ability and the skills to play in the NBA, making the G League a waste of time.
“I feel like the opportunity is not gonna be the same in the G League for him. Just because of his process and how long it’s been. Just being realistic. I’m his big brother, I gotta, ya know, tell him the truth (…) I think his path is overseas. He should have been overseas killing it.”
LiAngelo replied that he felt like if he got his shot in the G League he’d prove he belonged in the NBA and Lonzo replied that he feels that his sibling got his shot in the Summer League with the Charlotte Hornets.
“Are you gonna sit in the [G League] on the bench, or are you gonna go overseas to somewhere nice and go get 30?” asked Lonzo.
LiAngelo Ball has yet to make the NBA and it’s highly unlikely he’ll ever get a chance. He played 36 games for Greensboro Swarm in the G League back during the 2021-22 season and 14 more during the 2022-23 campaign.
Lonzo has returned to the NBA this year after missing the last two seasons while battling injuries. Out of the Ball Brothers, LaMelo has had the most successful career, being a starter for the Hornets and one of the highest scoring players in the NBA.
