Is Bronny James set to sensationally quit the USC Trojans to head to the Ohio State Buckeyes just one year after they gave him his break in the NCAA? A photo with his mother has sparked speculation he could make the switch.
The 19-year-old, who is a 2023 McDonald’s All-American, debuted in college basketball on December 10, 2023, just five months after suffering a scary cardiac arrest at the Galen Center during practice. His appearance was marked by applause and a solid cameo, but that memory might be long ago now.

Could LeBron James’ decision to play with Bronny jeopardize his final years?
The son of the Los Angeles Lakers’ ace and Cleveland Cavaliers’ legend, LeBron James, has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal and will bid to impress someone at the 2024 NBA Draft Combine in order to fast-track into the top level of global basketball.
But if he does not, he will remain in college for at least another year and a photo has sparked rumors that he might not be returning to the Trojans. The 6ft 4in guard uploaded a photo to Instagram for Mother’s Day but might have given up a big hint he’s off to a new team.
That’s because he was at a recruiting visit to Columbus and was wearing a Buckeyes’ uniform, posing with a basketball and their jersey with his number three. His mother was right beside him as the pair smiled for the camera too.

Why Ohio State?
Ohio State has been on the cards for the James’ family for some time now. Bronny had initially rejected them to head to the Trojans, where he averaged 4.8 points per game, 2.8 rebounds per game and 2.1 assists per game as a freshman.
Bryce James, his younger brother, also headed to Ohio State in October 2023 to check out the location. He is considered to be a four-star recruit, like his older sibling, as per 247 Sports Composite Rankings.
So why does it seem set for the James’ to go to Ohio? Well, the patriarch of the family, LeBron himself, is from Akron in the state. He was raised there, drafted there and spent 11 years of his career too.
Could the whole family be eyeing up a switch back to his home state if he doesn’t agree a new deal with the Lakers? Could he rejoin the Cavaliers to end his career?
