Greg Hardy’s transition from the NFL to the world of combat sports has been anything but conventional. Since leaving the league in 2016, Hardy has explored the world of boxing and mixed martial arts with fierce determination.
In his latest foray into the ring, Hardy participated in a Texas Combat League boxing match, facing fellow heavyweight Patrick Mailata.
The night did not turn out as expected for Hardy. Mailata scored a brutal knockout over Hardy, leaving the former NFL star on the ground and marking a surprising victory for Mailata.

For Hardy, this setback is just another chapter in his controversial combat sports career.
His career within the NFL was marked by a domestic violence incident that shook his reputation. In May 2014, Hardy was arrested for allegedly stalking his ex-girlfriend and threatening to kill her.
The judge issued a guilty verdict and imposed an 18-month probation sentence. The player appealed the decision requesting a jury trial; however, his ex-girlfriend did not appear as a witness and the prosecutor dropped the charges against him.
Despite the setbacks, Hardy found mixed martial arts as a new passion, impressing many with his potential in the octagon.
His time in the UFC was full of ups and downs, with moments of brilliance and discouraging defeats. Although his time in the promotion came to an end after three consecutive knockout defeats, Hardy continued to challenge himself, even dabbling in the world of bare-knuckle boxing.
