CeeDee Lamb‘s prolonged holdout from practice has finally paid off, with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones agreeing to a substantial new contract for the star receiver. The deal, worth $136 million over four years, secures Lamb’s place on the team but comes with a word of caution from Jones.
The Cowboys‘ owner, while meeting Lamb‘s demands, advised the young receiver to be prudent with his earnings and to make smart decisions going forward.

After signing the deal, Lamb had a sit-down with Jones, which the owner referred to as a “businessman chat.” Jon Machota of The Athletic shared a glimpse of this conversation on X, showing the caring side of Jones as he imparted advice to Lamb.
“You’re gonna be dealing with huge amounts of money. Be careful,” Jones said.
“Look under the hood. Give it a lot of consideration as you make decisions regarding what you have as far as keeping it. You don’t have to be smart to make money.
“You can be very talented. You can be very driven. You do not have to be smart to make money. But you have to be real smart to keep it. Very smart. Any way that I can help a player in any way keep it, put me in coach.”
Lamb’s new deal
The contract includes a massive $38 million signing bonus, setting a new benchmark for wide receivers, and guarantees $100 million in total. This makes Lamb one of the highest-paid receivers in the NFL, with an average annual salary of $34 million. With the deal secured, Lamb is eager to return to the field and contribute to the Cowboys‘ success.
Although Lamb has been absent from the field, he hasn’t been disconnected from the team. He’s been actively preparing for the season opener against the Cleveland Browns, ensuring he’s in top shape despite missing training camp.
