Jets secure blindside protection for Aaron Rodgers, while Cowboys lose another Pro Bowler

The Dallas Cowboys went into the offseason needing to shore up specific parts of their roster in order to repeat an NFC second-seed season and improve following their embarrassing first round playoff loss.

Tyron Smith joins Aaron Rodgers in New York

On Friday night, the New York Jets announced that left tackle Tyron Smith is signing with the team to protect Aaron Rodgers for the upcoming season.

Smith is now the third offensive starter from 2023 that the Cowboys have let walk to other teams. Tony Pollard signed with the Tennessee Titans, while Tyler Biadasz went to division rival Washington.

Pollard and Biadasz made the Pro Bowl in 2022. Smith has made eight Pro Bowls, although he has struggled immensely with injuries since turning 26 years old. He’s now 33, but was outstanding as Dak Prescott‘s personal protector last season.

It’s much-needed help for the Jets, who employed one of the worst offensive lines in the league in 2023.
