We’ve gotten to the point where there’s really only two names that come up if a greatest basketball player of all-time debate emerges: Michael Jordan and LeBron James. While most are still riding with MJ, James’ accomplishments, playstyle and longevity have kept his name in the discussion, despite Jordan having the rings advantage.
Kobe Bryant is likely third on many fans’ lists, but other than those three, there aren’t many other players who get brought up. Playstyles are subjective and anyone can prefer Kobe’s game to James’, but it’s still largely accepted that LeBron has surpassed the Los Angeles Lakers legend.

Ice Cube picks his 3v3 Dream Team without LeBron James
But not in the eyes of legendary rapper and Lakers fan Ice Cube. The founder of Big3 was asked to pick a dream three-player team, and he’s rolling without James.
It’s hard to argue with his choices. If it were a list of the three best players overall, James might have been on it instead of Shaquille O’Neal, but Shaq would complement Jordan and Bryant in incredible fashion on a 3v3 side.
James will probably have to do a lot more in Los Angeles for him to truly gain the respect of Lakers fans who have been loyal to the team for a long time. James has only made one NBA Finals since joining the team in 2019.
