NC State has more wins at Capital One Arena this week than the Wizards do all season

The Washington Wizards have a 4.26 home record at Capital One Arena through the 2023-24 NBA season and NC State now has five wins in the same venue this past week, most recently on Saturday against North Carolina to secure the championship of the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament.

Washington is the rout of the league and just barely snapped a 16-game losing streak earlier in the season to avoid matching the worst skid in franchise history.

The Wolfpack, on the other hand, have exceeded expectations by upsetting the Tar Heels, who are still one of the favorites to win March Madness. North Carolina had not lost since February 13.

“Winning five games in five nights is a miracle,” NC State head coach Kevin Keatts said after the title victory. “We’ve got to get some rest because, guess what, we’re going to the NCAA Tournament.”

Can NC State win March Madness?

The Wizards won’t even reach the playoffs and it’ll be a miracle if they tally at least 10 home wins this season, but NC State’s Cinderella story is just beginning.

NC State won the ACC Tournament for the first time since 1987 under legendary coach Jim Valvano. and the team wants to move much further than last year when they suffered an opening round defeat to Creighton as the 11th seed.

Capital One Arena was clearly a great venue for NC State, but they will unfortunately not get to play there again this year. Check out the full schedule for March Madness.
