Usain Bolt provides update after being stretchered off during UNICEF fundraiser

Usain Bolt faced an unforeseen challenge during a charity soccer match at Stamford Bridge, as the event, organized to raise funds for UNICEF, took an unexpected turn when he had to be taken off the pitch due to an injury.

The incident left fans anxious about Bolt’s condition, but he soon provided a comforting update.

After his surgery, Bolt posted a reassuring photo on Instagram, where he was seen smiling in a hospital bed with his leg in a plaster cast.

“Surgery was successful,” he wrote.

A serious injury

The injury occurred while Bolt was playing for the World XI FC team in the 2024 Soccer Aid tournament. The match, which saw World XI facing the England squad, turned intense in the second half when Bolt, playing as a center-back, collided with England’s Danny Dyer.

The impact resulted in Bolt falling and injuring his Achilles tendon, leading to his removal from the game on a stretcher.

Earlier, Bolt had shared another update on Instagram, depicting himself on crutches with a plaster boot on his right leg.

“Ruptured Achilles but done know we a warrior,” he noted.

Despite this setback, Bolt’s participation in the charity event helped raise significant awareness and nearly $16 million for UNICEF.

Organizer Robbie Williams, an ambassador for the charity, has helped raise over 100 million since the charity soccer fixture’s inception in 2006.
