24 hours before their debut against the Milwaukee Bucks, the Philadelphia 76ers announced that Joel Embiid and Paul George would miss Wednesday’s season opener.
While it is unfortunate the reason behind this, the league has gotten suspicious about of these two players, and too many, rightfully so. All this is because Embiid did not play in the preseason at all and while there are reports that he is doing well, things are not looking good.
Joel Embiid will not only miss the season opener, but he will also miss Friday’s game against the Toronto Raptors and Sunday’s game against the Indiana Pacers, despite the team saying he is “responding well to his individualized plan.” The league has taken action.
The analysis looking to find out more
While the Philadelphia 76ers have said that Joel Embiid will intensify his return-to-play activities this week, including participating in scrimmages, the NBA has had enough of what they believe is more than just an injury.
The is reportedly investigating the team’s handling of Embiid and “load management” tactic, considering the seasons has just started. From what insiders have reported, it sounds like the team is trying to take care of its star player now for him to be fresh for the postseason, but again, the season is just starting, and nobody is liking this.
While it is yet to be an official announcement from the league, is it almost certain that it will happen so it is a matter of time that more information is known about this matter and if the 76ers make a move to play him, everyone will know it’s because of the league’s pressure.
