Travis Kelce’s latest comments about Taylor Swift have led to their relationship being described as unsustainable: A sign of immaturity

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, who have been together for more than two years and are now engaged, found themselves at the center of a new round of attention after Kelce casually mentioned that he and Swift have never had a fight.

The comment came on New Heights during a light moment with guest George Clooney. Clooney said he doesn’t argue with his wife Amal, and Kelce jumped in to say he relates.

“It’s only been two and a half years, and you’re right. I’ve never gotten in an argument. Never once,” he told the actor.

Why experts say a perfect record of harmony might not be realistic

Sofie Roos, a relationship therapist who spoke to the Daily Mail, didn’t dance around her skepticism.

Swift and Kelce saying they’ve never fought in their relationship is, first of all, something I don’t believe in,” she said. “All couples fight, even superpower couples, because there are two individuals together, and that always leads to some sort of friction.

“The fact that they have never argued in two-and-a-half years tells that they most likely can’t talk about the things they think differently about, which is a red flag.

“If you always make sure to avoid conflict, that can be a sign of being immature or being afraid of arguing. Which is no sustainable way to keep the harmony, as it’ll eventually lead to some of you boiling over.”

Still, Roos allowed that not every couple handles disagreements in the same way. Small conflicts might be resolved before they ever reach the level of an argument.

“If [they don’t fight], it could just be as some couples deal with conflicts in other ways than by arguing and fighting,” she said.

Another therapist, Becky Whetstone, looked at it from a different angle. She suggested the absence of arguments might simply come from the fact that many classic sources of conflict don’t affect Swift and Kelce the way they do most couples.

“Think about the things couples fight about,” she said, before noting that neither Swift nor Kelce faces those issues.

“They both have more money than they will ever need, they’re both extremely powerful and relatively equal in fame and influence in their respective fields.”
