IndiGo, the favored airline of India, has unveiled 11 fresh routes as part of its expanded codeshare partnership with Qantas Airways, Australia’s national carrier, effective March 31, 2024. Commencing ticket sales from March 12, 2024, IndiGo patrons can now traverse prominent tourist and economic centers throughout Australia, including Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Gold Coast, and Perth.

These additional codeshare links enable travelers to seamlessly extend their journeys within Australia, accessing Qantas-operated domestic flights to Adelaide, Canberra, and Gold Coast. This enhancement offers Indian tourists, as well as business and leisure voyagers, a broader array of options for exploring Australian destinations, particularly during the approaching summer season. Notably, IndiGo presently facilitates travel to Singapore and offers seamless connections to Qantas’ Singapore-Australia flights.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales, IndiGo, said, “We are thrilled to introduce these new connections within Australia, in partnership with Qantas. Under this codeshare, our passengers can not only travel to Melbourne, Sydney, Perth & Brisbane via Singapore, but also onwards to Adelaide, Canberra & the Gold Coast. The Indian aviation industry is on a path of transformational growth and as India’s leading carrier, this partnership will also enhance our international presence via Qantas’ unmatched reach. IndiGo remains committed to delivering on the promise of affordable, on-time, courteous, and hassle-free travel experience across an unparalleled network.”

The leading airlines in their respective nations, Qantas and IndiGo, have solidified their partnership as a testament to the growing bonds between Australia and India within the framework of the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement. In 2022, they formalized a codeshare agreement, allowing Qantas passengers traveling non-stop between Australia and India to access 21 destinations across India via IndiGo. In November 2023, IndiGo expanded its reach to include Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, and Brisbane in Australia, further enhancing the collaborative codeshare arrangement with Qantas Airways.
