It’s the moment of truth for Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills with the start of the NFL playoffs, facing perhaps one of the teams that has shown the best form in this final stretch of the season: the Jacksonville Jaguars. There has been a lot of talk about Josh Allen’s health, specifically his foot, because without his mobility he may not be the constant threat to a NFL defense that will try to stop him and extend their dismal road playoff record.

In total, the quarterback is 0-4 when he has to play on the road, despite averaging 279.3 passing yards per game with eight touchdowns and just one interception. In fact, the Bills have gone more than 30 years without winning a postseason game away from home.

“The weakest part of the Sean McDermott-led Bills defense is easily the run game, which ranks 28th in yards allowed per game (136.2). The loss of defensive tackle Ed Oliver-their highest-graded run defender per Pro Football Focus-has hurt the rushing defense for much of the season, and unfortunately for Buffalo, Oliver will not be back for the wild-card game against the Jaguars.”

Running the ball is the easiest way to take advantage of a Bills defense that likes to mix things up schematically-and comes with the extra benefit of keeping Josh Allen off the field.

The Bills will face a Jacksonville Jaguars pass defense-remembering that Jourdan Lewis also won’t be available-and several teams without an elite aerial attack have still managed to put up solid numbers against them.

It will be a tough test for the Buffalo Bills, who are looking to take advantage of the fact that quarterbacks like Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes, or Lamar Jackson won’t be in these NFL playoffs 2026. We’ll see if it’s finally possible for Josh Allen to win a Super Bowl.
