Anmar Al Haili, president of Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad, is persisting in his obsession to sign Lionel Messi (in 2023 he offered him 400 million euros a year).

If Messi accepts to sign with Al Ittihad, he would be offered a contract where he could earn as much as he wanted, for as long as he wanted, even for life

The Saudi official has made it clear once again that money would not be an obstacle to seeing Messi in the yellow and black shirt, and he claims that Messi could personally choose his salary and the length of the contract: “If Messi agrees to sign with Al Ittihad, I would offer him a contract where he could earn whatever amount he wants, for as long as he wants, even for life.”
I offered Messi 1.4 billion euros, and he turned down such a big offer for the sake of his family despite being convinced

Anmar Al Haili confirmed his previous contacts to try to sign Messi, who after leaving PSG in 2023 decided to continue his career at Inter Miami: “Yes, I contacted him before, when his contract with PSG ended. I offered him 1.4 billion euros. He rejected such a big offer for the sake of his family despite having convinced them. However, he did not hesitate to reject it because family is more important than money. I respect him, and Al Ittihad will always open the door for him, he can come whenever he wants.”
“Having Messi at Al-Ittihad means nothing to me financially”
Everything points to Al-Ittihad and the Saudi Pro League having to wait, as in October 2025 Lionel Messi (38) renewed his contract with Inter Miami until December 2028.
“Having Messi here in Saudi Arabia wearing our shirt, economically it means nothing to me. We would celebrate the league even before it started because we would have the best player in the history of football,” said Anmar Al Haili in statements reproduced by ‘PurelyFootball’ and ‘TNT Sports’.
