Speaking about the influence of online platforms, Beckham focused on the broader role social media plays in modern life rather than addressing specific allegations. He emphasized both the positive and negative power of social media, noting that while it can be dangerous for young people, it can also be used responsibly and for meaningful causes.

Beckham said he has tried to model that approach for his children, pointing to his long-standing work with UNICEF as an example of using a large platform for awareness and impact. As a Manchester United and England National Team captain, David knows what it takes to be a role model.

A sincere message from a soccer icon

Beckham acknowledged that his children, like all young people, are allowed to make mistakes and learn from them. He said part of parenting involves allowing children to experience those moments, even when they are difficult, and trying to educate them along the way.

The comments came one day after Brooklyn Beckham posted a multi-slide Instagram story in which he accused his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, of being controlling. In the posts, the 26-year-old described what he said were years of tension within the family, including strained communication and ongoing conflict related to his wife, actress Nicola Peltz.

Brooklyn claimed that when he attempted to meet with his father, it was only under the condition that Peltz not be present, a situation he described as a “slap in the face.” He also alleged that during a later trip to Los Angeles, his family declined to see him.

In addition, Brooklyn accused Victoria Beckham of canceling plans to make Peltz‘s wedding dress shortly before their wedding and behaving inappropriately during the ceremony, echoing previous reports that the incident caused significant strain between the families.

In his statement, Brooklyn defended Peltz against suggestions that she has influenced his relationship with his parents. He wrote that stepping away from his family has helped ease anxiety he says he lived with for much of his life and allowed him to find peace. Brooklyn and Peltz have been together since 2019, married in 2022, and renewed their vows in August 2025 in a ceremony the young man said was intended to replace painful memories from their original wedding day.

While Beckham did not directly respond to his son’s claims, his CNBC comments underscored a belief in responsibility, growth and learning, particularly in how public platforms are used, as the family navigates a very public moment.
