For several years now, the state of Guanajuato has been classified as one of the most violent in Mexico and unfortunately this reputation has been strengthened by a tragic event that occurred on Sunday afternoon when a confrontation resulted in a shootout that has left at least 11 people dead and 12 injured.
The tragic incident took place in the town of Las Flores, in the municipality of Salamanca, on an amateur soccer field where several people gathered to enjoy a game of the country’s most popular sport, as is very traditional on Sundays. At that moment, armed men entered the field and began to fire their weapons.

What did the Mayor of Salamanca say about this terrible shooting?
The local government, led by the member of the Movimiento de Regeneracion Nacional (MORENA), Mayor of Salamanca, Julio Cesar Ernesto Prieto Gallardo, immediately condemned the events that took place and while the investigations are being carried out to determine the motive for this unfortunate attack, a statement was issued in which it was announced, among other things, that 10 of the 11 people who lost their lives did so in the same place, while one more lived his last breath while being treated in a nearby hospital.
“Federal authorities have already been in communication with the state’s Secretary of Security, the Attorney General, the Secretariat of Security and Peace of the Government of Mexico, who are collaborating, and together we will support the families of the victims of this terrible attack,” said Julio Cesar Ernesto Prieto Gallardo. “This event is part of a wave of violence that we are unfortunately suffering in the state and particularly in Salamanca.”

“From the first moment the facts became known, the Prosecutor’s Office deployed agents of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Criminal Investigation agents and expert personnel, who carried out the processing of the place, the collection of evidence, the preparation of expert reports and the corresponding ministerial proceedings, with the aim of preserving the evidence, guaranteeing a technical and scientific investigation, and laying solid foundations for the identification and punishment of those responsible,” said the Guanajuato State Attorney General’s Office in a statement on social networks.
