Who hasn’t had a fantasy that’s completely occupied their minds? With Valentine’s Day coming up, there are probably a number of people who will imagine going on a special date with someone they’ve long had a crush on. Netflix’s new limited series explores exactly how a fantasy can blur reality with Vladimir. Rachel Weisz stars in the series with Leo Woodall, John Slattery, Ellen Robertson and Jessica Henwick. Vladimir will be a half-hour show with eight episodes, which comes from writer and creator Julia May Jonas. The streamer has just released the new trailer.
The official synopsis from Netflix reads,
“When a passionate but reckless professor’s world begins to unravel, she finds herself dangerously fixated on her magnetic new colleague. Seduction and obsession collide in Vladimir—a provocative limited series brimming with forbidden desires, razor-sharp wit, and charismatic, unpredictable characters. As boundaries blur and secrets simmer, she’ll risk everything to bring her most scandalous fantasies to life. Based on the acclaimed novel by Julia May Jonas.” Netflix is partnering with 20th Century Television on this series.
Weisz and Jonas also executive produce on the series along with Sharon Horgan, Stacy Greenberg and Kira Carstensen (Merman), Jason Winer & Jon Radler (Small Dog Picture Company), Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini. Additional cast members will include Matt Walsh, Kayli Carter, Miriam Silverman, Mallori Johnson, Tattiawna Jones and Louise Lambert. Directors on the show will include Shari Springer Berman & Robert Pulcini (episodes 101, 102), Francesca Gregorini (episodes 103, 106, 107), Josephine Bornebusch (episodes 104, 105)
The author and creator Julia May Jonas would give a little insight into the mind of her main character, telling Netflix Tudum, “It’s that feeling of being so full of creative energy because you have this lust or obsession for someone. Many people have felt that kind of opening [up] — how fun it is to want something,” and as the trailer teases, “Her mind is going wild.” About the character she portrays, Star/Executive Producer Rachel Weisz further reveals “The narrative she tells isn’t always accurate…”
So, what did you think of the trailer? Who do you fantasize about? Don’t be shy. I’ve had a thing for Hailee Steinfeld and Elizabeth Olsen myself.
Vladimir will start streaming on Netflix on March 5.
