Paige Bueckers calls Stephen Curry’s Olympic performance a ‘heavenly experience’

Stephen Curry‘s performance during Team USA’s run to gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics left basketball fans around the world stunned.

Among those watching closely was Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers, who offered a blunt and enthusiastic reaction to the Golden State Warriors guard’s shot-making display on the international stage.

Curry’s heroics helped lift the United States to a 98-87 victory over France in the gold-medal game, capping off an unbeaten tournament for the Americans.

The veteran guard delivered some of the most memorable moments of the competition, particularly during the semifinal against Serbia and the final against France, when his long-range shooting repeatedly shifted the momentum in Team USA’s favor.

At the time, Paige Bueckers was still playing for the UConn Huskies. Like most Americans, she was in awe of Curry’s skills.

“Nah he’s UNREAL,” she wrote on X.

The post came during a breathtaking stretch that helped Team USA close out a 98-87 victory over host nation France, securing the country’s fifth consecutive Olympic gold medal in men’s basketball.

Recently, journalist Geogg Magliocchetti recounted Bueckers’ reaction to Curry, saying that for Bueckers, “watching Stephen Curry ‘go crazy’ at the last Olympics was a ‘heavenly’ experience.”

Curry’s ability to hit contested three-pointers under immense pressure has long defined his career, but the Olympic stage added another layer to the performance.

Curry’s Olympic moment captured the basketball world

Curry’s run in Paris marked a special chapter in his career. Despite already building a rsum that includes multiple NBA championships and MVP awards, the Olympic Games had previously eluded him. Injuries kept him out of the 2012 and 2016 teams, and he opted not to participate in the pandemic-affected Tokyo Games.

When he finally stepped onto the Olympic stage, the Warriors star delivered dramatically.

Across the tournament, Curry averaged 14.8 points in limited minutes, but his biggest impact came when the stakes were highest. In the semifinal against Serbia, he erupted for 36 points, shooting 12-for-19 from the field and knocking down nine three-pointers in a dominant performance.

He followed that up with another decisive showing in the final against France. As the hosts cut the lead to a single possession late in the game, Curry responded with a barrage of four consecutive three-pointers, including a pair that effectively sealed the victory.

He finished the night with 24 points and eight made threes, punctuating the moment with his signature “night-night” celebration.

For players like Bueckers, watching a performance like that from one of the sport’s defining stars was impossible to ignore.

At the same time, Bueckers has quickly become one of the rising stars in the WNBA. The former UConn standout entered the league with high expectations and has already emerged as a centerpiece for the Wings.

Her scoring ability, playmaking instincts, and competitiveness have made her one of the most closely watched young players in the league.
