The personal life of Luka Doncic has become a major topic of conversation across the basketball world this week after reports surfaced that his longtime partner, Anamaria Goltes, filed a legal petition involving their children. The development emerged just hours before Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers were scheduled to face the Minnesota Timberwolves, drawing attention away from the court and toward the off-court situation surrounding the superstar guard.
According to a report from TMZ Sports, Goltes filed paperwork seeking child support related to the couple’s two young children.
The filing reportedly does not include a request for custody but focuses solely on financial support and legal fees.
The petition states Anamaria moved back to Slovenia in May of last year. Their kids have remained with her ever since, including their youngest, who was born in December 2025.

Goltes isn’t seeking custody orders, only child support and attorney fees. It’s not yet clear why she felt compelled to file the request, but the early signs are concerning for Doncic.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Doncic had not publicly commented on the filing. However, he confirmed to Dave McMenamin that they had separated.
“Everything I do is for my daughters’ happiness and I will always fight to be with them,” Doncic said.
A long relationship under the spotlight
The story has attracted widespread attention in part because Doncic and Goltes have been one of the most well-known long-term couples connected to the NBA.
The pair first began dating in 2016, long before Doncic became one of basketball’s global superstars. Their relationship dates even further back, however, with the couple meeting as children.
During a question-and-answer session with her followers on Instagram, Goltes once explained how their relationship began.
“I answered this question like a million times. We met when we were 12 years old at the seaside in Croatia,” she said.
“Fun fact: We still have the same group of friends we had at that time. You keep the real ones, am I right?”
The couple announced their engagement in July 2023, and later that year they welcomed their first child together. Their family grew again in December 2025 when their second child was born.
Despite the public interest in their relationship, Doncic has historically kept details about his personal life relatively private, focusing most of his public attention on basketball.
Still, the lack of an immediate response to the recent legal filing has fueled speculation among fans online.
Social media activity sparked rumors
In recent weeks, social media chatter surrounding Doncic‘s relationship had already begun to circulate after fans noticed the Lakers star interacting with posts from a model on social media. That moment quickly sparked rumors of a potential split.
Another rumor also briefly linked Doncic to Outer Banks actress Madelyn Cline, though neither individual has provided any indication that they even know each other.
What is known is that Goltes‘ legal filing focuses specifically on establishing financial arrangements rather than determining custody.
In many cases, legal experts note that such filings are used simply to formalize child support agreements within the court system.
Doncic has addressed the situation and the situation for the Lakers star and Goltes is likely to continue for weeks and maybe months, perhaps affecting him as the NBA season moves deeper into its most important stretch.
