The Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific Update 2024 (“HICAP UPDATE”) took place in Hong Kong from March 13th to 14th, providing a platform to explore the evolving landscape of the hospitality and travel industry in the Asia-Pacific region. This event attracted around 75 prominent industry figures who delved into the latest developments, investment opportunities, and challenges across various thriving markets in the region.
Ms. He Jihong, the Chief Strategy Officer of H World Group Limited (“H World” or “the Group”), was among the attendees, contributing insights into the Group’s operations and the broader trajectory of the travel sector. H World, ranking sixth globally in terms of hotel room count and known for its rapid expansion, experienced a resurgence following China’s economic recovery in 2023. Ms. He highlighted the notable uptick in demand from lower-tier Chinese cities, reflected in a significant increase in Revenue per Available Room (RevPAR) for Legacy-Huazhu, the Group’s Chinese arm.
Expanding its horizons beyond China, H World sees Southeast Asia as a promising frontier for growth. Ms. He pointed out strategic investments in countries like Singapore and Thailand, with a keen eye on emerging markets such as Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, and the Philippines. The recent rebranding of Deutsche Hospitality as H World International further underscores the Group’s commitment to global expansion.
Innovation plays a central role in H World’s strategy, with a strong focus on technology-driven solutions to enhance customer engagement and satisfaction. Their proprietary operational system and analytical tools enable personalized services, leading to a membership base exceeding 200 million. Looking ahead, H World aims to strengthen its ecosystem through continuous technological advancements and tailored customer experiences.
