Wednesday night delivered a special, special moment for the New England Patriots franchise. The most successful quarterback in NFL history, Tom Brady, saw his jersey retired and was inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame.

Many of Brady’s former teammates gave speeches to a big Gillette Stadium crowd that made everyone emotional. But it was Brady’s head coach, Bill Belichick, who surprised everyone with a poignant tribute to the player who was by his side for over two decades.

After the speech, the two hugged in the center of the stage. It was a full circle moment after Brady left the Patriots in 2020. There were rumors about the Belichick-Brady relationship souring, but it’s clear there’s still a whole lot of love between the two.

Brady gave Belichick kind words in his own speech.

“It wasn’t me, it was us. Our hard work, our love for the game… there is no coach in the world I would rather play for than Bill Belichick.”
