Before the start of the game between Argentina and Colombia, Alexis Lalas considered that the entrance fiasco at the Hard Rock Stadium was a bad message that the United States was sending to the world, less than two years before the World Cup.

“I understand that this doesn’t look good for CONMEBOL, but this happens in our country, and it doesn’t look good for the United States, less than two years before the World Cup.”

Were there any Lessons learned at the Dolphins Stadium?

Lalas hopes that the Copa America chaos left several lessons for Canada, Mexico, and the United States to implement and have security measures in place to prevent tragedies.

“I’m sure that FIFA, Canada, and Mexico will work to make sure this doesn’t happen,” he said.

The former USMNT player pointed out that the disaster in the organization of the Copa America is proof that the United States does not have the culture to run a soccer event.

“This also shows you that they can’t tell you that ‘America is not a soccer country’ we have a great history” he added. “I understand that this doesn’t look good for CONMEBOL, but this is happening in our country, and it doesn’t look good for the United States, less than two years before the World Cup,” Lalas concluded.
