This is what Patrick Mahomes thinks of his receivers and the rest of the NFL should be concerned

After the fifth training camp practice at Missouri Western State University, Patrick Mahomes, the star quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, gave an update on his team’s wide receivers. He had some pretty exciting things to say about Hollywood Brown, Rashee Rice, and Xavier Worthy.

When it comes to Hollywood Brown, Mahomes was pleasantly surprised by the receiver’s versatility. “No one told me like how much he can actually do on the football field,” admitted Mahomes. “He can run those over-the-middle routes. He can run really good routes- and he can run deep. It’s not like ‘fast’ is the only thing that he can do.”

This is great news for Chiefs fans and a potential nightmare for their opponents. Mahomes even believes that Brown is still improving as an athlete, which is pretty impressive.

Rashee Rice, who led the team in receiving yards in 2023, also caught Mahomes’ eye. According to the quarterback, Rice came into camp in even better shape this year. Mahomes was particularly impressed with Rice’s explosiveness when catching the football down the field and his ability to quickly gain yards after catching the ball underneath.

Mahomes highlights receiver bond between Rice and Brown

Mahomes mentioned that Rice and Brown have been working out together and pushing each other to be great. Mahomes appreciated the mentorship role that Rice has taken on as the senior wideout. “They’re always together. They’re always working on routes. They push each other to be great,” said Mahomes. It’s clear that the bond between these players is helping them elevate their game.

As for Xavier Worthy, the team’s first-round pick, Mahomes sees a lot of potential in the rookie. Despite missing a few days of practice due to strep throat, Worthy has already shown his talent on the field. “You can already see the talent,” observed Mahomes. “I mean, you all saw the catch that went viral.” It’s clear that he has high hopes for Worthy.

Overall, Mahomes’ update on the receivers is filled with optimism and excitement. It seems like the Chiefs have a strong group of wideouts who are not only talented individually but also work well together as a team. With Mahomes leading the charge, it’s no wonder that Chiefs fans have high expectations for the upcoming season.
