As the Kansas City Chiefs get set for a second straight title defense, a lot of eyes are on the offensive side of the ball. The reason for that is because the front office made it imperative to improve there, particularly at the wide receiver position.
As Travis Kelce enters his age-35 season, the team needs to get younger pass-catchers for Patrick Mahomes heading into the future. They did that by acquiring Marquise Brown and Xavier Worthy to be their top wideouts. But could their fourth round pick be the sneaky-best addition?
Jared Wiley makes instant impact at Chiefs training camp
During a recent practice, Mahomes hit tight end Jared Wiley for a big play. The social media team shared a clip of the play, and Mahomes reposted it.
Mahomes has been reposting a lot of Chiefs videos, but it’s still nice to see him giving the rookie some love, too. Wiley was drafted 131st overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, as an insurance policy for the aging Kelce.
But Wiley appears ready to contribute even with Kelce still playing at a high level. The Chiefs haven’t had a super-talented tight end to pair with Kelce in a long time, possibly ever. Wiley seems set to change that as soon as this upcoming season.
