Things got testy at Tennessee Titans training camp when online beef took shape face-to-face between Titans star Jeffery Simmons and Nashville sports radio host Buck Riesing. The entire altercation was live streamed, and everyone could hear the derogatory term used by Simmons.
What did Jeffery Simmons say?
Remarkably, that wasn’t the part of the video that caught people’s attention. Riesing stood his ground in front of the Tennessee defensive lineman like a franchise left tackle, and fans applauded him for it.
Simmons confronted Riesing for criticizing him on social media, and attempted to tear him down by calling him a “p*ssy.”
“Jeff, we’re on the air right now,” said the Titans reporter for 104.5 The Zone in Nashville, which was stationed live at Titans training camp. “I’m right here, Jeff. We can talk any time you want to.”
Local radio host gets love from Tennessee fans
Buck Reising is a renowned voice for Nashville radio station 104.5 The Zone, heard every weekday from 10AM-1PM. Reising has covered the Tennessee Titans as a writer, reporter and talk show host since 2017.
“Radio guy lowkey stood on business, said you could come talk to me rn and Jeffery walked away,” said the top comment on the video of the argument on X, with over 2,500 likes.
While a few ardent fans defended the Titans lineman, more voices echoed support for the self-assured local radio man.
“I think Jeffrey Simmons missed an opportunity to cook his opposition here. If you don’t want him to talk about you on social media, you can destroy him in person live on air on his own platform,” a response on X suggested.
Riesing proved that in the age of social media, you have to be able to back up your posts in person. The positive response of NFL fans to his refreshing reaction showed that it’s a rare trait among the media.
