Carolina Panthers players were given quite the scare early Friday morning when their Delta Airlines flight ran off the runway shortly after landing at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
The incident happened as the Panthers were returning home following their preseason road game against the New England Patriots. The Panthers came up short in the contest falling 17-3.
As per WCNC, the incident happened around 2:35 a.m. as the flight landed after departing from Providence, Rhode Island.
“The right main gear of Delta 8860 exited the taxiway at Charlotte Douglas International Airport following a normal arrival,” the airline stated, with emergency vehicles making their way to the aircraft soon after.
No injuries reported
Delta confirmed that none of the 188 people on board were injured.
“We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience,” Delta wrote regarding the incident.
A similar incident happened at Charlotte Douglas just hours before the Panthers landed.
An American Airlines flight safely landed four hours prior, though flight attendants suffered some injuries due to unexpected turbulence.
The injured flight attendants were taken to a local hospital for evaluation, though no passengers were injured.
