Lamb was notably absent from the preseason, missing training camp and three games. The good news for CeeDee is that, since he is no longer under a rookie contract, it appears he will not face the $3 million fine for missing the summer.
Even with his renewal completed, it was unclear whether the wide receiver would travel to Cleveland for the Week 1 game due to concerns about potential injury or being out of shape.
How much did It cost Dallas to keep CeeDee Lamb?
After many weeks of negotiations between Cedarian and the Cowboys, a four-year contract worth $136 million was agreed upon. This makes him the second highest-paid player in history who does not play the quarterback position.
Moreover, his renewal included a signing bonus of $38 million, the largest ever given to a wide receiver in NFL history.
Dallas opted for this “expensive” route as their alternative was to activate Lamb’s fifth-year rookie option for $18 million. The concern was that by the end of the 2024 season, CeeDee could leave as a free agent.
Now, if anyone wants to take Lamb from the Cowboys before 2028, they will have to pay a hefty sum.

For the current season, the salary cap is set at $255.4 million per team. CeeDee Lamb is expected to earn $34 million per season, a significant portion of the cap.
In 2023, Lamb scored 12 touchdowns, had 135 receptions, and gained 1,749 yards in the regular season. Like Dak Prescott, Dallas fans are demanding not just a good performance before the playoffs but a deep postseason run. With the investment made this season, the goal is to reach a conference championship game after 29 years.
