With 381 games and seven Super Bowl titles under his belt, Tom Brady knows a thing or two about the NFL, but not enough according to some of his broadcasting colleagues as the former New England Patriots star responds to criticism following his FOX Sports debut.
The 47-year-old, known for his relentless devotion to his craft and his cognitive ability to overcome brute force, has turned his attention to punditry after bowing out from the sport following a stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
But as he took to the airwaves to analyze and dissect the Dallas Cowboys’ Dak Prescott against the Cleveland Browns’ DeShaun Watson, he was very much a rookie once again and one of his industry peers let him know where the bar is.
It came after the ex-New England Patriot appeared to react unenthusiastically to the longest field goal in history served by Brandon Aubrey as he made the kick from a mammoth 66 yardds at the Huntington Bank Field.
The reaction led to Scott Hanson on NFL RedZone to say, “Brady’s got to get more excited than that in the booth,” before he later appeared to regret his comments and apologized on social media.
However, Brady, took it all in stride as he responded to the recommendation with unwavering enthusiasm. After all, someone who spent over 15 years under Bill Belichick has to know how to take criticism.
“This rookie appreciates you [Scott Hanson]!.” Brady said on X.com, formerly Twitter, quoting Hanson’s post. “No apology necessary my man.
“Life is too short to not have fun! We’re officially on 70 yarder watch and I’m gonna spike my headset when it happens.”
Who do the Dallas Cowboys play in Week 2?
The Dallas Cowboys kicked off their 2024/25 NFL season with a huge win over the Cleveland Browns fresh off the back of signing Prescott and CeeDee Lamb to long term deals, running out 33-17 winners on the road.
In Week 2 they’ll make their season debut at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington when they welcome the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, September 15 with kick-off expected at 13:00 ET/10:00 PT.
The Saints won their opener against the Carolina Panthers with a 47-10 victory at the Caesars Superdrome and only failed to get into double points in the third quarter on September 8.
