Trevor Lawrence avoids sugarcoating dismal Jaguars streak: “We Suck”

Following a disappointing 18-13 loss to the Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence did not shy away from calling out his team’s early-season struggles.

Everybody in Jacksonville is frustrated

The defeat, marking the Jaguars’ second straight loss, left the team reeling and their franchise quarterback visibly frustrated.

“We suck right now,”Lawrence stated bluntly after the game.

His frustration stemmed from another lackluster offensive performance that saw Jacksonville unable to find the end zone through the air.

Lawrence completed just 14 of 30 passes for 220 yards and was sacked four times, including a game-sealing safety with just under two minutes left to play.

The Jaguars’ sole touchdown came courtesy of a 4-yard run by Travis Etienne Jr. in the third quarter.

Lawrence, however, shouldered much of the responsibility for the offense’s struggles, which have been a glaring issue through the first two games of the season.

“We had a great offseason, great training camp, and we’ve got to figure it out. We know we’ve got a good group of players, but clearly we’re not performing. Everybody has to take accountability,” Lawrence emphasized.

“I’ve got to play better. The wideouts have to play better, the line has to play better. We’ve got to coach better.”

The loss drops Jacksonville to 0-2 for the first time since 2021, when Lawrence was a rookie.

Despite the optimism that surrounded the team during the offseason, the Jaguars have managed to score only 30 points over their first two games, with the offense struggling to establish any rhythm.

The Browns’ defense, considered one of the top units in the league, held the Jaguars’ offense in check, limiting big plays and putting relentless pressure on Lawrence.

While Lawrence acknowledged Cleveland’s defensive prowess, he was adamant that Jacksonville’s offensive woes are self-inflicted.

“It’s what p—es you off after the game,” he admitted.

“A lot of it we control, but we’re not doing it right. Until we do it right, it’s going to be a different story.”

Jaguars’ last win was in Week 12 of 2023

Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson echoed his quarterback’s concerns, stating that the team’s inconsistency needs to be addressed immediately.

“There’s too much talent. There are signs of it, but we’re just not consistent enough,” Pederson noted.

As the Jaguars search for answers, their early-season struggles have raised concerns about the team’s direction.

The team has not won a game since Week 12 of the 2023 season, and with an 0-2 start, the pressure is mounting on Lawrence and the rest of the offense to turn things around.

“We know the things we’ve got to work on, and we’ve got to find a rhythm as an offense” Lawrence concluded.

“Too many good players to perform like that, really the last two weeks.”
