Colin Farrell says his complete bodysuit created by Mike Marino for The Penguin included everything, even a penguin penis.
Colin Farrell is damn near unrecognizable as the Penguin thanks to the incredible prosthetics and bodysuit created by artist Mike Marino, which apparently included a penguin penis. Pardon?
While speaking with People, Farrell explained that one scene in the series called for his character to appear naked. βMarino is so twisted and brilliant. He was like, βI made you a penguin penis,ββ Farrell said. βI said, βReally? Theyβre not even going to see it. I donβt know if I want to walk on set with a penguin penis.β And he was like, βNo, no, no, dude. Itβs detachable, itβs Velcro. Itβs got a beak at the end of it.β So I had a penguin penis.β
Farrell went on to credit Marino for making the whole thing work. βIf it wasnβt for Mikeβs design, Iβm telling you now, if it was just me with a fβing cigarette and a top hat and a bit of a limp and an umbrella that was a machine gun, we wouldnβt have had the HBO show.β The complete transformation covers just about every part of Farrellβs body. βOnly things that were me were my hands and feet,β he said. βEverything else, including ears, were pieces. Everything was covered.β
Taking place after the events of The Batman, The Penguin will find Oz Cobb taking advantage of the power vacuum created by the death of Carmine Falcone. In addition to Farrell, the series stars Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone, daughter of the late Carmine, Rhenzy Feliz as Victor Aguilar, Ozβs driver, Michael Kelly as Johnny Vity, Falcone family underboss, and Clancy Brown as Salvatore Maroni, a rival gangster. Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre OβConnell, James Madio, Scott Cohen, Michael Zegen, Carmen Ejogo, and Theo Rossi also star in the series.
The Penguin was originally developed by Max, but it has since moved to HBO alongside several other shows that were initially announced for Max. The series will debut on HBO on September 19th. Our own Alex Maidy called the series a βmasterpiece that will be the defining performance of Colin Farrellβs career.β You can check out his review right here. As for The Batman Part II, weβve got quite a wait in store as the film has been delayed by an entire year and will now hit theaters on October 2, 2026.
