Justin Jefferson is confident about playing against Texans: Oh yeah, for sure

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson is optimistic about his availability for Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans, despite suffering a right quadriceps contusion in Week 2.

Jefferson sustained the injury while attempting to block San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner during a run play.

“Oh yeah, for sure,” he responded when asked if he’ll feature against Houston.

While Jefferson is confident he will play, his teammate Jordan Addison remains sidelined with an ankle injury. Addison did not practice on Thursday and is unlikely to suit up against the Texans.

“I was supposed to stay on the corner and pretty much run him off,” Jefferson said.

“It feels great every day. It feels a lot better. So, you know, just taking it day by day, just standing in treatment, working with those guys to make sure that feeling fantastic Sunday.

“Some things you can control, some things you can’t. I could have controlled this injury by not going in, going in there on this on this run play that wasn’t my job on that specific run.

“So just you know things to avoid, and you know things to look for in the future, but you know it happens. Can’t get frustrated. Just got to move on.

“The coaches get you right for that moment to know what you got to do for the wrong game rules and people to block, you know, not to block. And I should have went in there on this specific play, I was supposed to stay on the corner and pretty much run them off.

“So, I just got to make sure that I’m aware of my rules and the specific plays that I have specific rules on, I just gotta, I just got to know it for next time.”

Vikings team news

The Vikings also have good news regarding injuries. Several key players, including Brian O’Neill, Andrew Van Ginkel, Garrett Bradbury, Aaron Jones, Ed Engram and Jalen Nailor, participated fully in practice on Thursday.

Ivan Pace Jr. was limited but is expected to play. The Vikings aim to maintain their undefeated streak against the Texans this Sunday.
