Two of the teams that prior to the start of the 2024 NFL season looked like serious contenders to fight for a ticket to Super Bowl LIX, have had totally unexpected starts.
Although the Dallas Cowboys got off to a good start, as expected, with a convincing 33-17 win over the Cleveland Browns, last week they were crushed by the New Orleans Saints 19-44, with Dak Prescott throwing for two interceptions and a quarterback rating of 78.3, while the defense allowed 432 yards.
In addition, the Cowboys allowed six touchdowns on the Saints’ first six possessions to snap a Dallas streak of 16 consecutive regular-season home wins.
On the other side, the Baltimore Ravens are off to an unpredictable 0-2 start with losses to the Kansas City Chiefs 27-20, and a week later were the surprise of the week when they fell at home to the Las Vegas Raiders 26-23.
In last week’s game, the Cowboys defense allowed 180 yards to Alvin Kamara from the line of scrimmage and four touchdowns, and now they will have another tough test against a team that knows how to run the ball.
On one side is Lamar Jackson, one of the best quarterbacks at running the ball, and former Offensive Player of the Year Derrick Henry.
Although Baltimore lost its first two games, each was by a margin of no more than a touchdown, and the ground attack totaled more than 150 yards in each game.
Dallas’ offense has shown a lot of holes in their first two games; the connection between Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb is still solid, but Prescott missed big last week, something he hopes to fix against a great Ravens defense.
