Brandon McManus cleared by NFL of sexual misconduct charges, teams interested in signing him

Brandon McManus, a former kicker in the NFL, finds himself in the spotlight once again, but this time, it’s not for his performance on the field. Facing two civil lawsuits that allege misconduct during a flight with the Jacksonville Jaguars last season, McManus has been under investigation by the league. Despite the severity of the allegations, the NFL has decided not to discipline the veteran kicker due to “insufficient evidence.”

Earlier this year, two women filed civil lawsuits against McManus, accusing him of inappropriate physical contact during a team flight to London. The lawsuit also implicates his former team, the Jacksonville Jaguars, accusing them of failing to provide a safe environment for the flight crew. The NFL, however, conducted its investigation and determined that there was not enough evidence to take any disciplinary action against McManus.

NFL insider Adam Schefter reported, “The league concluded its investigation and found no violation of the personal conduct policy. McManus will not face any punishment and is free to pursue opportunities with other teams.”

A new opportunity for McManus?

Despite the legal trouble, the NFL’s decision has opened the door for McManus to return to the league. Since the league announced its findings, several teams have reportedly shown interest in signing the kicker, a 10-year veteran who played for the Jaguars last season and maintained an impressive 81.1% success rate on field goals.

The Washington Commanders released McManus shortly after the allegations surfaced, but with the NFL’s clearance, it’s possible that McManus could find a new team soon.

McManus, who has denied the allegations, has described the lawsuits as an “extortion attempt.” His legal battle, however, continues as the two women pursue their claims against both him and the Jaguars in court.

Career outlook

Although the legal proceedings are ongoing, McManus remains focused on his NFL career. With a solid track record, including a career field goal percentage of 81.4%, his return to the field could be imminent.

It now remains to be seen whether a team will sign McManus in the wake of the NFL’s decision, allowing him to return to action in the league where he has spent the last decade.
