Patrick Mahomes reflects on collision with Rashee Rice: “I felt like st”**

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes recently shared his regret over an accidental collision with wide receiver Rashee Rice during a game against the Chargers. In an attempt to make a tackle after throwing an interception, Mahomes inadvertently crashed into Rice, bending his knee in what initially looked like a serious injury.

During a press conference, Mahomes reflected on the moment, admitting that he was focused on recovering the ball at the time and didn’t immediately realize he had collided with his teammate. “I didn’t notice it in the moment,” Mahomes explained, “but when I saw the replay, I felt like s**t that I hit Rashee.”

The Chiefs organization feared the worst, initially suspecting an ACL tear. Rice, who had been performing exceptionally well with 24 receptions and 288 yards in the season’s first three weeks, was carted off the field. Although official tests are still pending due to knee swelling, the team has already placed Rice on injured reserve.

A huge loss for the Chiefs’ offense

Losing Rashee Rice is a significant blow for the Chiefs‘ passing game. The young wide receiver was becoming a key part of Mahomes’ offensive arsenal, contributing two touchdowns early in the season. With Rice sidelined for at least four games, the Chiefs will need to rely more heavily on veteran players like tight end Travis Kelce and rookie receiver Xavier Worthy, along with Justin Watson, Skyy Moore, and JuJu Smith-Schuster.

Mahomes acknowledged the challenge but expressed confidence in the team’s depth. “Obviously, Rashee is a huge part of the game plan,” he said. “But Coach Reid does a great job getting guys ready to go throughout the week, and we had an extra day to prepare this time.”

Looking ahead to the season

As the Chiefs move forward, Mahomes‘ focus remains on adjusting to the absence of Rice while continuing to lead the offense. Despite the setback, the team is determined to maintain its winning momentum, with Mahomes optimistic that the remaining players can step up and fill the gap left by Rice’s injury.

For now, all eyes are on Rashee Rice’s recovery, with fans and teammates hoping for a Swift return.
