Andy Reid‘s team is likely ecstatic to be undefeated, but the veterans know there’s a long road ahead in order to make it back to the Super Bowl. Making that path more murky is the mounting injuries that have befallen the team.
It began with Marquise Brown being lost for the regular season. Then Isiah Pacheco was knocked out for up to eight weeks. And last Sunday, Rashee Rice had his knee taken out by Patrick Mahomes himself on an unfortunate play. Despite on-field tests from the team doctors signaling an ACL tear for Rice, the subsequent testing and imaging didn’t confirm it.

The Chiefs are waiting for more tests on Rice’s knee, but he’s on IR for now, meaning he’s at least out for the next four games. It sounds like he will be out for much more, though, as ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Saturday that the best case scenario would be Rice returning in six to eight weeks. With that in mind, the Chiefs are intending to make a move to fortify the position.
Which wide receivers could be available for a Chiefs trade?
Schefter mentions disgruntled Las Vegas Raiders wideout Davante Adams not being a real possibility, mainly for financial reasons. A name that makes more sense is Tennessee Titans veteran DeAndre Hopkins. The Titans are 1-3 and would likely prefer to recoup a draft pick in a trade than force Hopkins to play out a losing season.
Could the Chiefs turn to the NFC instead? The Green Bay Packers just suspended receiver Romeo Doubs for one game for “conduct detrimental to the team“. Doubs apparently has been upset with the lack of opportunities he’s been given in the passing game. That’s a name that could make sense, and Doubs is just 24 years old, so he can be an asset in the future as well.
