Aaron Rodgers’ amazing Hail Mary to Allen Lazard that stunned the NFL world

The New York Jets might have slumped to another defeat at the MetLife Stadium on October 14 but Aaron Rodgers sent the fans home with one highlight after a stunning Hail Mary attempt to Allen Lazard.

The Buffalo Bills ran out 23-20 winners on Monday Night Football but the headlines went to the 40-year-old quarterback’s exceptional play showing that whilst he’s aging, he hasn’t lost his arm.

Woody Johnson‘s Jets were trailing Joe Allen’s side by 20-10 as half-time beckoned when Rodgers produced the feat by tossing the ball some 52 yards before Greg Zuerlein added the extras to make it a three point game.

It’s the fourth career touchdown pass for 40+ yards for the veteran and to put that into perspective, it’s considered impressive if a kicker can make a 50+ yard field goal, let alone to throw that far.

But credit should also go to Lazard, who kept his composure and eye to make the catch despite being surrounded by a plethora of blue Bills jerseys looking to make an interception or tackle him out of bounds.

The 28-year-old wide receiver caught his fifth touchdown of the season (league-leading) with the play, totalling his stats for the 2024/25 NFL campaign to 26 receptions from 40 targets for 354 yards.

Who do the Jets face in Week 7?

So there is life in the Jets, despite another disappointing day at the office as the team continues an underwhelming start to the season after earning shouts that they could even make it to the Super Bowl in preseason.

After firing Robert Saleh in early October, the organization will be hoping the next head coach they put into the box seat will be able to get a tune out of the side and save their prospects of making the playoffs out of the AFC East.

The Jets will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 7, on Sunday October 20 at the Acrisure Stadium in Pennsylvania.
