With Chiefs needing WR help, one of the best in NFL admits there was no chance he would join them

The NFL trade deadline is fast approaching. Teams have until November 5 in the afternoon in order to improve their squads by way of a trade. Trade deadlines have historically been quiet, but this past week saw more movement than ever before in a given day pre-deadline. Preceding a Buffalo Bills trade for Amari Cooper, the New York Jets made a huge splash by acquiring disgruntled wide receiver Davante Adams.

Adams hadn’t seemed happy with the Las Vegas Raiders for essentially his entire time there. A swinging door at quarterback and frequent losses took a toll on Adams, and he finally asked out. He practically got his wish, reuniting with his former quarterback and good friend Aaron Rodgers. A few teams were reportedly eyeing Adams in a trade, but ultimately, the Jets made the most sense on both sides.

A lot of Kansas City Chiefs fans wanted to see him in red, especially given the team’s mounting injuries at the position. But when asked if joining the Chiefs was a possibility, Adams flat-out said he didn’t even consider it.

Why didn’t Davante Adams want to play for the Chiefs?

There’s likely a couple of reasons for Adams not wanting to join Kansas City. The main one has to be that he has no familiarity with Patrick Mahomes. It was clear once the trade rumors started that the wideout wanted to play with a quarterback he has been teammates with before: Rodgers or Derek Carr.

Another reason could very well be the rivalry that has unfolded between the Chiefs and Raiders. The two franchises seem to truly hate each other, and Adams witnessed that firsthand during his time in Las Vegas. It would almost have been taboo for him to make that switch.
