There is no question that the San Francisco 49ers are having tough stretch and things just got worse. One day after a painful defeat at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs in Santa Clara, Deebo Samuel has been hospitalized due to pneumonia.
The current situation of the star receiver is unknown and so far it has only been reported that there is no date for his return. Even before the duel against the current two-time Super Bowl champions, it was reported that the veteran wide receiver would play despite suffering from an illness.
During the game, the television cameras showed Samuel using oxygen from the first quarter and in the second half he came out dressed in civilian clothes. His current status is unknown but things are getting tough in Santa Clara.
Health concerns everywhere
The news about Deebo Samuel is even worse when it is considered that Brandon Aiyuk is officially out for the rest of the season after suffering a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee that will require surgery.
Also, head coach Kyle Shanahan said that he would be surprised if Christian McCaffrey plays this upcoming Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys; there is a good chance he plays two weeks after that.
Fortunately for Kyle Shanahan and his boys, both Ricky Pearsall and Jacob Cowing, a pair of rookies, have been considered and would be the ones chosen to try and replace two of the field’s monsters.
