If you have Brandon Aiyuk on your NFL Fantasy Team, you might want to drop him for good. The wide receiver suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in the loss to Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers are in trouble and so are you if you have him on your team.
Aiyuk has led the Niners in most receiving categories in recent seasons but now they will have to look elsewhere for offensive help. The wideout will undergo further tests to see if he has other damage to his knee but is official that he will be out for the remainder of the season.
Once the results of the test are in, he will undergo a surgery that will leave out of action for many months until he can start his rehabilitation process with hopes that no other setbacks prevent him from being ready for the 2025 season.
The 49ers knew it was serious
The San Francisco 49ers are in deep trouble as they have lost many key players as of late. Head coach Kyle Shanahan kind of already knew what was going on with Brandon Aiyuk after the game.
“That’s what it seems like, but we don’t know for sure, I’ve been wrong before. So we are praying,” he said right after the loss against the Chiefs. They will need more resources soon if they want to be competitive the rest of the season.
The 49ers signed Aiyuk to a four-year, $120 million contract extension after a lengthy contract dispute that nearly led to his transfer to another institution. Now, after the signing he will not be able to finish the season, a tough investment, no doubt.
