In light of Liam Payne’s recent toxicology report, Lamar Odom has opened up about his own past struggles with substance abuse, speculating that the drugs found in Payne‘s system may have played a role in his tragic passing. Speaking to TMZ, Odom addressed the use of a drug mix known as “pink cocaine,” which authorities reported was found in Payne’s body.
The blend, a combination of ketamine, methamphetamine and ecstasy, is known for its potent and unpredictable effects.
Odom’s remarks
Odom, who now runs Odom Recovery Group, shared that he had firsthand experience with all of the drugs involved, including cocaine and crack.
He noted that, in his view, crack is one of the most dangerous substances out there. Drawing on his own battles with addiction, Odom suggested that the powerful mix of drugs could have led to hallucinations or a distorted sense of reality, which might have been a factor in Liam’s fatal fall from the third floor of his Buenos Aires hotel suite.
“I’ve done a lot of things. I’m not ashamed, though, because it’s my testimony,” Odom said.
“Drugs could cause you to hallucinate. And if [Payne] was in a hallucination state, then who knows what would happen.
“Well, I mean, if you’re hearing voices, then it’s hard to escape those voices, so God forbid if those voices told him to do something that led to his fate. That’d be a shame.
“I’m gonna make sure I say a prayer for his family and everyone that he knows.”
This theory aligns with reports from local authorities, who have been investigating whether Payne‘s fall from the balcony was influenced by drug-induced hallucinations.
Earlier this year, Payne had spoken openly about his efforts to remain sober, reflecting on how his past addictions had taken a toll during his time with One Direction.
