The NBA is an exciting sport to watch because of the flashy plays and the display of athleticism from the players on the court, but sometimes the fans get to witness some horrible injuries and that’s just what happened this Monday during a game between the Utah Jazz and the Dallas Mavericks.
During the third quarter of the game, Utah forward Taylor Hendricks was wheeled off the floor on a stretcher with a right-leg injury after he landed awkwardly during a play and dislocated his ankle.
Hendricks went down to the floor without any contact; his foot landed in a awkward position. The gruesome scene shocked fans at the American Airlines Center, home of the Mavericks.
The players next to Hendricks couldn’t believe what they were witnessing and had to get away from the injured player before getting impacted by the traumatic event.
Before injuring his leg, the Utah Jazz forward had two points, two assists and three rebounds in 21 minutes of action in a losing effort as the Mavericks beat the Jazz 110-102.
Utah posted on social media that Hendricks suffered a fractured right fibula and discolated his ankle.
Jazz head coach Will Hardy said during a press conference after the game that everyone on the team wanted to give Hendricks a big hug to make him feel better.
“I am sure he’s getting a lot of messages from family and loved ones. We are going to do our best as a group to just continue to show him and his family some love and support during this, but I said right now he’s probably just a little bit shocked by it all.” said Hardy.
Taylor Hendricks is in his sophomore season and played college at the University of Central Florida. During the 2024-2025 season he’s averaging 6 points, 6 rebounds and zero assists with a 30.8% field goal percentage. The 6’9 forward from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, hopes to recover fast so that he can continue to improve his game in the NBA.
