Savannah James, best known as the wife of NBA superstar LeBron James, has been carving her own path as a philanthropist and entrepreneur. But while she’s worn many hats over the years, it’s her role as a mother – especially to her young daughter, Zhuri – that’s profoundly shaped her mission. A simple, heartfelt comment from Zhuri changed Savannah’s perspective entirely, inspiring her to take her ambitions to a whole new level.
Appearing on the Tamron Hall Show alongside her business partner April McDaniel, Savannah shared how a remark from Zhuri spurred her to reconsider her impact. “My daughter is who really catapulted me to want to be and do more,” she told the audience.
Savannah recalled that a few years back, Zhuri had sweetly told her, “I want to be just like you.” While this comment warmed her heart, it also brought a mix of pride and pressure. Savannah admitted, “Anxiety, nervousness, oh my gosh, what have I done? Have I done anything? Like, why do you want to be like me?“
With her three kids and various ongoing projects, Savannah already had a full plate. But Zhuri’s admiration ignited something deeper. “It made me ask myself, ‘Am I doing enough?’ I wanted to set an example that she and other young girls could look up to,” Savannah said. Feeling an urge to go beyond personal achievements, she found herself motivated to create something that could benefit a broader community.
James’ project aims to empower women
Enter Let It Break, a powerful initiative Savannah co-founded with friends April McDaniel and Porsha Ellis. As she explained, this isn’t just a brand but a community-driven movement aimed at empowering women. Savannah saw Let It Break as a way to harness her influence to create meaningful change.
“We’re creating a movement that empowers women to overcome limiting beliefs and reach their fullest potential,” the website reads. The mission? To foster self-awareness, education, and a sense of purpose for women from all backgrounds.
Though Savannah recognizes Let It Break isn’t the first initiative for women’s empowerment, she believes in the strength of community. Designed as a membership-based platform, the initiative provides resources and support for women on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth. Through shared experiences, educational tools, and encouraging purposeful work, Let It Break aims to help women see and achieve their highest potential.
