The Kansas City are still undefeated and they sent a message to the rest of the AFC West and the conference after beating the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. Even more special was to have a special captain on the field.
Kareem Hunt, who recently returned to the team after being cut, suspended and signed by the Cleveland Browns a few seasons ago, has been again a very important part of this offense and deserve the recognition.
“Yeah, you know, he was in that class with Patrick (Mahomes) and it’s almost like he kind of never left,” head coach And Reid said. “That’s how I think the guys that have been here see that, and then the guys that haven’t been here have always heard about Kareem and the guys talking about him.”
The leader that was missing
In his four games back with the Kansas City Chiefs, he has at least once in each of those matchups, proving that he has a high value for the team and can help a struggling offense despite the undefeated start.
“He has that veteran leadership ability (and) runs tough. He’s been welcomed back as if he hadn’t left. That’s why we felt comfortable doing that,” Reid said. Hunt was previous with the Chiefs back in 2017.
Kansas City drafted him but off the field issues made the team release him a year later, however his performances were never to blame for the move and after Isiah Pacheco’s injury he was available in free agency, so it was a no-brainer to bring him back and it has proven to be the right move.
