Bronny James made the leap from the NCAA to the NBA over the summer after the Los Angeles Lakers selected him in the second round of the draft.
While his introduction into the league has been a slow one, the 20-year-old did make history on October 22 when he and dad LeBron James became the first father-son duo to play in the league.
Nevertheless, life in the NBA isn’t always glamorous, which was highlighted by a recent post by Bronny on Instagram.
“I miss my baby,” Bronny captioned a photo on Instagram of him and girlfriend Parker Whitfield ahead of the game against the Pistons on Monday night. “Love u sm.”
Unfortunately for Bronny, and most athletes, being away from loved ones is a part of being a professional athlete. Despite that, it seems the rookie is getting more adjusted to life in the NBA, having recently scored his first career points against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
LeBron proud of his son
The fact Bronny scored his first points in front of his hometown crowd, and the team that his dad represented for many years, wasn’t lost on LeBron, who expressed his pride at his son’s achievements.
“He’s better than I woulda been in that situation… If the roles were reversed I don’t know if I would be able to handle it,” said LeBron.
The game was a strong one for LeBron, as he finished with 26 points on -of-13 shooting, alongside six rebounds and three assists, though seeing Bronny record his first points may have been the high point.
As for Bronny, his development will continue, with head coach JJ Redick stating the youngster will split time between the Los Angeles Lakers and the South Bay Lakers.
“The plan for Bronny to move between the Lakers and South Bay has always been the plan since Day 1,” Los Angeles coach JJ Redick said.
“(General manager) Rob (Pelinka) and I have talked about that. LeBron’s talked about that.”
