Carmelo Anthony shares his plan to guide his son Kiyan’s basketball career and unveils one change that will be pivotal

Carmelo Anthony reveals his son can make it to the NBA so long as he sticks to the blueprint laid before him by the 10-time All Star as well as countless others who made it to professional basketball.

Kiyan Anthony, aged 15, is currently working his way up to the college scene and is likely to join the Syracuse Orange as his father did over two decades ago, but for now he is continuing to develop his game in high school.

And whilst there is absolutely pressure on him as he chases his dream, as well as living up to the legacy of the small/power forward who shot over 28,000 points in the NBA, his dad believes he can make it if he remains focused.

“It’s tough. I’m seeing this all over again from my son,” Carmelo told The Tonight Show. “The way that people was probably looking at me when I was coming up in high school.

“I get a chance to look at my son in this situation the same way. There’s pressure and you know what’s ahead of them. The blueprint is already laid. If you follow the blueprint, the blueprint will get you there.”

Despite previously coming under criticism for his intensity regarding the training of Kiyan, instead of allowing him to simply enjoy playing the game, the youngster said he does actually appreciate how he is pushed.

“We used to be in a lot of controversy,” Kiyan told Overtime in 2023. “Because he was trying to put me in the post at the time.

“Whenever my dad sees us lacking or doing something bad, he always comes to the timeout and gives his input.”

Which college could Kiyan join?

Regarded as a four-star recruit, there is a lot of hype around the future of the teenager and he could go on to have a successful career in the sport if he remains on his current path without even improving relative to his age group.

But the next step is a big one. College. That’s when it all changes around and he will find out the NBA is just a few years away. So which programs could he look to join?

Kiyan revealed on his 7PM Brooklyn podcast that he’s looking at offers from Syracuse, Auburn and USC and that a decision will be made in the coming weeks, so keep your eyes peeled to learn his future.
