Davante Adams’ hot take on Aaron Rodgers backfires: Why comparing him to Michael Jordan was a bad idea

As the New York Jets continue to flounder in the 2024 NFL season, star wide receiver Davante Adams shared his thoughts on Aaron Rodgers’ frustrations, using a comparison to NBA legend Michael Jordan.

After the Jets’ disappointing Week 10 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, which dropped their record to 3-7, Adams expressed how difficult the situation must be for Rodgers.

He used Jordan’s late-career struggles to paint a picture of how Rodgers might feel.

“It’s tough,”Adams said.

“I mean, if Michael Jordan was on this team, he wouldn’t be happy. So you can look at it however you want with that, but you’re not supposed to be happy when things aren’t going great. You do have to try to dig deep and find a way to fix it. That’s what we’re trying to do now.”

Adams’ remarks came after another lackluster performance from Rodgers, who threw for just 151 yards in the loss to Arizona.

The veteran quarterback’s struggles continued, and his team’s poor performance raised serious questions about the Jets’ playoff hopes.

Rodgers had only one completion that traveled more than 10 yards in the air and finished with a paltry 4.3 yards per attempt-the worst of his career since 2019.

Colin Cowherd also compares Rodgers to Jordan… on the Wizards

While Adams chose to highlight Rodgers’ resilience and determination to fight through adversity, others have been more critical of the situation.

Sports analyst Colin Cowherd recently compared Rodgers’ tenure with the Jets to Michael Jordan’s ill-fated stint with the Wizards.

Cowherd pointed to Rodgers’ age and the stale offensive scheme under head coach Nathaniel Hackett as reasons the Jets’ offense feels outdated.

“Aaron Rodgers has become Michael Jordan on the Wizards. It’s an OLD man offense,”Cowherd stated.

“Rodgers looks like an old man, and that’s what the Jets offense looks like too.”

Rodgers has struggled to find a rhythm with his new team, and with just one win in the last five games, questions are growing about the team’s future.

With just seven games left in the regular season, it’s unclear whether the Jets will be able to turn things around.

Their next game, a Week 11 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts, could be crucial for keeping their slim playoff hopes alive.

As for Adams and the rest of the Jets, they are still trying to find a solution to their offensive woes.

But with Rodgers’ struggles taking center stage, the comparisons to Jordan’s final years might be more than just a metaphor.
