The calming techniques Savannah James uses to deal with Bronny’s haters

Savannah James has plenty to be thankful for thanks to her three children, as well as husband LeBron James.

However, things aren’t always rosy for the 38-year-old, especially now that firstborn Bronny James is looking to make his mark in the world of basketball.

Drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the NBA Draft, the 20-year-old is keen to become a regular in the league. However, with regular playing time hard to come by, the Lakers decided to send him down to the G League in order for Bronny to work on his game.

Given the attention being LeBron’s son generates, Savannah opened up on the Everything’s Crazy podcast about how she deals with the scrutiny.

“I tried to stay away okay? We came into a gym with a target on our back already. It was somebody, a lot of somebody’s already had a lot of things to say. So I tried to stay away,” Savannah said.

“But I can’t say that not away from the game, just stay away from the people. So I don’t hear the banter. But I can’t say that I didn’t try it a couple of times with a baby on my head.”

However, Savannah noted that it’s hard not to be protective of her son.

“Sometimes, I’m an overprotective parent, too,” she said. “And there’s only so much that you could take, especially when these kids are going to sixth grade or fifth grade or wherever. The next level is we’re not talking about NBA contracts coming from these AAU games or recreational games.

“So, it took a lot, I had to learn I feel like that’s really when I started to learn breathing techniques. Because I had to talk myself down from cussing people out, but it worked.”

Savannah isn’t afraid to show her teeth

The matriarch of the James family even revealed how she dealt with a man who once flipped off Bronny during a game, and how she did so even with baby Zhuri on her hip.

“You know how you say, ‘You got to be an adult and talk to the people head-on.’ I marched up them bleachers with Zhuri – little, tiny Zhuri. What am I going to do? I’m talking to a man like, ‘o, you flicking my son off? Like that’s what we doing at this game?’ ‘Oh no! I was doing that to my son. That’s what we do.’ Okay,” she said.

“So, now you crazy, just randomly flipping your son off while he playing the game. That’s odd, but yeah, all right. So, yeah, like it’s crazy stuff! People are just crazy.”
