The Kansas City Chiefs, once again, came out victorious last week. This time, though, it was in improbable fashion. It very much looked like the Chiefs were heading towards the first loss of their season, but a blocked field goal on a short attempt saw Kansas City’s undefeated season live on for at least another week.
This recent win has many fans thinking the Chiefs have “devil magic” on their hands. It does seem like the team is able to find several different avenues to victory, even when Patrick Mahomes and the offense isn’t performing like we’ve grown accustomed to. And even if they aren’t and they need a score, Mahomes is able to turn it on in key moments.
Deebo Samuel’s opinion on whether the Chiefs are “lucky”
That element of “luck” doesn’t even come to mind when San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel was asked about the Chiefs’ recent win. He thinks the Chiefs are simply a good football team overall.
Luck is a part of this game… A dub is a dub. It’s hard to stop them. A lot of people say Mahomes for sure is the key piece, but you have to give credit to their defense as well. Holding people to lesser points than they’re normally averaging scoring, you gotta give credit there… You just keep adding pieces [like DeAndre Hopkins] to the offense and then how well their defense is playing. You just gotta find a way to beat them.
Samuel doesn’t believe it matters that the Chiefs are barely scraping by in their games: “I mean, as long as you’re winning“. Football players know how hard it is to actually win football games every week in the NFL, so Samuel isn’t taking any credit away from the Chiefs no matter how marginal their victories are.
The 49ers know all about winning, too. The team has won double digit games in four of the last five seasons, while making two Super Bowls and four NFC Championship games.
