Stephen Curry is known for being a smooth shooter while on the NBA court, but that doesn’t mean he’s always smooth off it.

The Golden State Warriors star is one of the greatest shooters of all-time, and is credited by many as revolutionizing the sport thanks to his abilities behind the arc.

Along with his great play on the court, the 36-year-old has much to be proud of off it thanks to his wife, Ayesha, with whom he has two daughters and two sons.

The couple have been together since meeting in their church back in Charlotte when Steph was 15 and Ayesha was 14, and since then they’ve gone from strength to strength.

Ayesha has revealed that Steph was the cute guy all the girls at the church were obsessed with, though the two didn’t start dating until 2008.

Steph fondly remembers the occasion, opening up about it while speaking on ‘Dude Perfect’.

“Me and my wife Ayesha, on our first date – we went skeet shooting,” he stated. It clearly worked for Ayesha, as the two tied the knot in 2011.

Although the two met in 2003, they didn’t start dating until 2008 when both were in Los Angeles. Steph was in town to attend the ESPYs, where he picked up the award for Breakout Athlete of the Year.

While speaking with People back in 2020, Ayesha revealed her thoughts on the date, which included going to Hollywood Boulevard, visiting Madame Tussaud’s and getting chai tea lattes: “So funny and silly. The absolute opposite of what I thought he was going to be.”

While the date was a success, it did end on an awkward. Ayesha described how Steph went in for their first kiss and that she wasn’t ready for it.

“He was mid-conversation and came flying at my face like a thief in the night,” she said. “So I was like, no. Then I thought, ‘Oh, I didn’t know this is what was happening’.”

Despite the slight hiccup, the couple soon found their footing with one another and have enjoyed the life they’ve built together since.
