Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets were expected to go to the Super Bowl but their lofty ambitions have turned into a nightmare as they sit second-last in the AFC East, with the 40-year-old’s future at the MetLife the main thing left to decide in 2024/25.
The former Green Bay Packer and one-time Super Bowl champion was expected to take Woody Johnson‘s franchise to the next level as they chase glory for the first time since 1968 but it simply has not materialized.
Not only is the quarterback struggling to find the form of yesteryear, he also seems to be problematic too with rumors and reports suggesting he was part of why the organization fired Robert Saleh as head coach and Joe Douglas as general manager.
So with the 3-8 record (.273) and their odds of the NFL Playoffs effectively over the horizon, Johnson is now faced with the question of whether he wants to stick or quit with Aaron Rodgers for 2025.
The NFL veteran has a 63.4% completion rate from 380 pass attempts and has only made 2442 yards for 17 touchdowns, whilst allowing seven interceptions and being sacked 26 times, as well as making four fumbles.
It’s far from what the team hoped, or expected, from someone they are paying $75 million dollars in guaranteed salary as part of a three-year $112.5m deal. Especially after they traded for Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders to try to give him the spark he was missing.
With the QB into his fourth decade and hardly getting younger, the franchise has to start thinking to the future with the likes of Shedeur Sanders, Quinn Ewers and Dylan Raiola potentially entering the 2025 NFL Draft. So could Johnson fire him and invest in someone else?

The New York Jets will not participate in Week 12 of the 2024/25 NFL season as they take their bye week.
They will next be on field at the MetLife on Sunday, December 1 when they welcome the Seattle Seahawks to the East Coast. The game is expected to kick-off at 13:00 ET/10:00 PT.
